London City Airport

London City Airport handles scheduled passenger flights and is served by the Docklands Light Railway, or DLR. It offers a different arrival experience from the larger airport hubs, but the flight timetable, terminal opening arrangements and onward connections still need to fit the trip you are planning.

Continue by DLR

Use London City Airport DLR station for the rail connection and plan the complete onward journey with Transport for London. Check the train's destination and any interchange needed for your hotel or venue. A DLR service does not take you to every theatre or concert entrance without a change or a final walking stage.

Confirm current service information for the travel date rather than relying on a route remembered from a previous visit. For an early flight or late arrival, check both the airport's opening arrangements and the public transport journey. A scheduled flight does not mean every onward service runs through the night.

Prepare for the terminal

Follow the airline's check-in and bag-drop instructions for your booking. Leave enough time for the terminal process and boarding even when travelling with hand baggage only. Check the airport's current security guidance rather than assuming that baggage-screening arrangements are identical to another airport.

The terminal offers food, drink and shops, but availability can depend on opening times and whether you have passed security. If a meal is essential before a performance or onward journey, make a plan that does not depend on a particular outlet being open.

Assistance and onward travel

Consult London City Airport's assisted-travel information and request any required support through your airline or travel organiser before flying. Explain the assistance you need at check-in, security, boarding or arrival, and confirm the meeting arrangements.

For the DLR and subsequent public transport, check step-free routes and lift status with TfL. Airport assistance and a usable onward transport route are separate requirements; arrange both rather than assuming one booking covers the complete journey.
